NEW YORK (UPI) -- Sources say a guilty plea is expected from a woman reportedly involved with a high-priced escort service allegedly linked to former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer.
People familiar with the case told The New York Times that Temeka Lewis, thought to have made appointments for the escort service, is expected to plead guilty to a couple of conspiracy counts in Manhattan federal court.
Lewis's would be the first guilty plea in the case, which led to Spitzer's resignation March 12. Lewis's job was allegedly to book appointments for the women who worked for Emperor's Club V.I.P. Prosecutors said she arranged the alleged February liaison between Spitzer and a prostitute in Washington that was monitored by the FBI.
A defense lawyer not involved in the case told the Times that if Lewis struck a plea deal, she could provide testimony that could lead to criminal charges against Spitzer.
